The Laurea (equivalent to B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering teaches engineers to be able to deal both with the design, as well as the production and management of products, technological processes and industrial plants; therefore they will become professionals able to operate in all areas of Industrial Engineering. Especially in the early years, the course allows students to gain a solid technical and scientific background, on which economic and applicative skills are grafted.
At the Piacenza Campus, parts of the first and second year tuition of the laurea has elements in common with that offered at the Milan Bovisa campus, as well as the third year “Preparatory” track to the Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to M.Sc.). The third year with a “Professional” track in "Production Plants and Machinery" is only taught at the Piacenza Campus instead. The "Production Plants and Machinery" track provides courses in the fields of mechanical and energy systems, industrial logistics and mechanical processing systems. There is also a significant training internship which takes place within companies.
After passing the State Examination, Mechanical Engineering graduates can enrol in the Register of Engineers (section B).
