Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering - Ingegneria Meccanica ("Mechatronics for Manufacturing" track)

Places available - Educational rulesCourses (please select the FA5 Track) - Website

The Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science and, hereinafter “LM”) in Mechanical Engineering - Ingegneria Meccanica is distinguished by the solid preparation provided to students . To survive in a fast-changing world, manufacturers must become quicker, smarter, and greener. This goes beyond making existing physical processes more efficient and for this purpose technical figures prepared to tackle this innovation process will be highly requested.

"Mechatronics for Manufacturing" track, entirely released in the Piacenza Campus, aims at training professional profiles specialized in the design, integration, monitoring and control of complex mechatronic systems (robots, automatic machines, machine centers, etc.) that can use new tools and methodologies for developing innovative solutions both in the conceptual design and in the profitable use phase of the system in manufacturing.

The Mechatronics for Manufacturing track covers the broad field of mechatronics related to manufacturing processes and systems, highlighting Research and Developments in the modern engineering of advanced mechatronics and manufacturing technology. The study of the machine-process interaction, advanced monitoring and control strategies, machine learning techniques, prognostics, the use of smart materials, the development of digital twins and cyber physical systems, Extended Reality applications, evolute simulations techniques and sustainability in manufacturing are some of the most relevant topics that will be dealt in the courses.

The track addresses all manufacturing equipment, processes and systems, including machining systems, metal forming, robots, non-conventional processes, additive manufacturing processes, etc.

The courses will report meaningful examples from broad industrial applications and companies will be actively involved in the teaching process and in the laboratory sessions (e.g., Digital Experience Center (DEX) provided by Siemens). Even MUSP (Laboratory for the Study of Machine Tools and Production Systems, part of the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Laboratory Network) is involved in the teaching activities.

After passing the State Examination, Master's degree graduates in Mechanical Engineering can enrol in the Register of Engineers (section A).
